Graphics Software Engineer

Role Description

Scene Group seeks a dynamic software developer to assist in the development and maintenance of our new and hugely exciting 2D Animation Software.

Do you have a keen interest and familiarity with the latest developments in the computer graphics industry? Are you passionate about innovating and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in graphics and animation? Then we’d love to hear from you!

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and test 2d graphics software in a cross-platform environment.
  • Refactor and rewrite existing code to improve quality, reliability and maintainability.
  • Profile and improve performance-critical code paths.
  • Writing of technical documentation.
  • Actively participate in team design discussions, sharing responsibilities and cultivate the adoption of best practices.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing software applications.
  • Fluency in C++.
  • You have an adept knowledge of modern rendering architectures.
  • Knowledge of video and audio codecs / transcoding.
  • You are comfortable working in a cross platform environment.
  • You thrive while working both independently and as part of a team within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong ability to trouble-shoot with high attention to detail and quality.
  • A passion for forging high end user experiences.

Preferred

  • Experience of working with any of the following:
    • GLSL
    • OpenGL, Vulkan or Metal
    • Skia
    • Qt

Software Architect

Role Description

Scene Group seeks a dynamic software developer to assist in the development and maintenance of our new and hugely exciting 2D Animation Software.

As a Software Architect, you will work on developing and improving the core aspects of Cavalry. You will be collaborating with a multi-functional team of developers to help implement robust and easy-to-maintain code. As we are a small team this role would also include some DevOps work. Responsibilities

  • Creation/ oversight of technical designs for the application.
  • Prototype and experiment with technical designs.
  • Refactor and rewrite existing code to improve quality, reliability and maintainability.

  • Writing of technical documentation.
  • Actively participate in team design discussions, sharing responsibilities and cultivate the adoption of best practices.
  • DevOps (CMake, Python, GN/ Ninja, macOS, Windows).

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing software applications.
  • Fluency in C++.
  • You thrive while working independently within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • You’re a team-player, who is customer-focussed and your work ethic makes you quality obsessed.
  • A passion for forging high end user experiences.

Preferred

  • Experience working with RestAPIs.
  • Experience working with WebAssembly.
  • Linux experience.

QA Tester

Role Description

Scene Group seeks a QA Tester to assist in the development and maintenance of our new and hugely exciting 2D Animation Software.

We rely heavily on QA to achieve our excellent product quality, we consider it to be a core part of the process and as such you will work at the heart of the development team, testing the software, providing feedback and suggestions. Responsibilities

  • Testing features through their entire development lifecycle.
  • In-depth, project based testing.
  • Providing feedback and ideas to improve the quality of the application.
  • Liaising with the development team to identify and track issues.
  • Sign off on releases for production milestones.

Qualifications

  • You are self-motivated and thrive while working independently.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the role and for Cavalry.
  • You’re a customer-focussed, team-player with a keen eye for detail.
  • A very high degree of organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working with a bug tracking system.
  • Experience working with graphics software.
  • An understanding of the software development process.

Motion Designer

Type: Full-Time

Location: Remote or our Sheffield/ London office.

Salary c.£35k +/- dependent on experience.

Role Description

Scene Group seeks a talented and motivated motion designer / animator to join our team and become a driving force in the growth of Cavalry - a hugely exciting new 2D animation software born out of mainframe.co.uk.

If you’re passionate about design / animation and you’d like to be part of a team focused on making it faster and easier, then this could be the role for you.

Responsibilities

  • Creating animations for social media, demos and tutorials.
  • Producing high quality example scenes to show off Cavalry’s capabilities.
  • Providing feedback and feature requests to the Development team.
  • Participating in community discussions to both educate and improve Cavalry.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of 2d motion design and animation experience with a strong reel.
  • A love of illustration, design and typography.
  • Strong creative and technical skills.
  • Great communication skills with the ability to take a brief and see it all the way through to a finished animation.
  • You are self-motivated and thrive while working independently.
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the role and for Cavalry.

Preferred

  • An interest in ‘animation for the web’ (inc. Lottie) and dataviz.
  • Experience in UI design.
  • Knowledge of video and audio codecs/ transcoding.
  • Ability to work in a cross platform environment.
